Vacation rental owners, think of your many, many guests. High traffic means bigger profits but also wear and tear on your property.

After first starting our cleaning business in 2014 we were quickly booked solid and deep in cleaning vacation rental homes in the Roaring Fork Valley near Carbondale, Colorado. In one of our fancier homes that we cleaned on a regular basis, a 3 story, 5-bedroom, 4500 square foot home that rented for upwards of $1500 per night, that we lovingly called the "Monster House". It was huge and it had the worst surfaces to clean and keep clean. The home was custom designed for the owner who was an archeologist and who had traveled the world and collected small, rare fossils and other treasures from over 5 different continents, it was a beautiful and great collection indeed. UNTIL she decided the fossils would make a wonderful kitchen countertop collection in her home encased in a bed of some kind of custom soft transparent resin/ epoxy so that you could see them all as you looked down on the kitchen countertops as though they were in a glass case in a museum. The wood flooring that was laid throughout every level of the home was made of rare Southeast Asian precious Agarwood and had to have special cleaners used on it. The bathrooms, all 5 of them, had been laid in Calacatta Barghini marble from the Apuan Alps and you guessed it, you don't just clean it with every day household cleaners. Now, had she of continued living there all by herself this may have worked, what she didn't know is that by turning her home into a vacation rental, those custom countertops, the flooring, the precious marble and more, were going to get ruined by anyone who didn't understand just how fragile they were. A home that was the size that could sleep up to 13 people, was constantly booked multiple nights per week and many of the guests multiple families staying together and many were small children. The home was experiencing high volume use on a regular basis. Numerous guests would come and stay and after a couple of days, attempt to clean up after themselves and ruin the countertops or the flooring which could not even be cleaned with anything but the softest of cleaning cloths and it all scratched and stained very easily and we heard story after story of vacation rental guests being charged exorbitant fees to fix the precious surfaces. A beautiful house yes, it was made for a magazine cover, a functional vacation rental no. As a vacation rental owner, think durability and the cost it would take to replace something once it gets allot of high traffic

use.
